The V-Move 20T is a highly engineered, walk-behind battery-powered electric semi trailer mover built to move empty or light semi trailers weighing up to 55,116 lb, depending on tongue weight and traction conditions — with a published manufacturer’s move rating of 20,000 kg (44,092 lb). It lifts loads up to 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) using a hydraulic fifth wheel — with a published manufacturer’s lift rating of 4,500 kg (9,920 lb).. Powered by two 5 kW AC electric motors, it replaces a diesel terminal tractor for yard spotting, dock work, and trailer positioning — with zero emissions, near-silent operation, and no CDL or license required to run it.

A Zero-Emission Alternative to Terminal Tractors and Yard Trucks
Also known in the industry as a terminal tractor, yard spotter, yard dog, yard goat, yard hostler, mule, or prime mover, the V-Move 20T does the same job — shunting loaded semi trailers around a yard or dock — at a fraction of the capital cost, operating cost, energy use, and space requirement of a full-size shunt truck, even an electric one. One operator walks alongside the unit using a tilting steer handle or operates it via remote control, so there's no cab, no CDL requirement, and a much smaller footprint for manoeuvring in tight yards.

The standard battery pack is 8 x 6V 230Ah AGM, deep-cycle maintenance-free batteries. Most customers upgrade to the optional 8 x 48V 30Ah LiFePO4 lithium pack — the higher voltage delivers more usable power alongside faster opportunity charging. Yes, with the optional compressor attachment, it can do both. It can release or apply air brakes at the push of a button. The optional active trailer braking uses a dedicated computer system to automatically apply and release the trailer’s own brakes for extra stopping force when slowing down, when on inclines, or at loading docks.

The tug is super easy to use and the payback is 6 months. It is pretty well a no brainer.
We are a large property management company with a need to transport heavy waste bins up through our parkade each week. After years of using an aging tractor, we recently purchased a V-Move tug to:
